Face to face with our Technical Director

This time we directly speak to Massimo Girotti, co-owner of the firm Professione Piscina, Technical Director and super-veteran of this field.

30 years have gone now since you started building pools. What is the memory of the first one?

It’s just a far memory now (smiles). The first pool we build was in L’Aquila, so out of our region. It was an innovative pool, built following a sophisticated method for that time. As it was the first pool, we was scared as “the new guy”.

On one side we had the desire to fulfill at our best the customer’s desires, on the other one we had the need to get all the necessary logistical and technical information to try to not make mistakes. Then the firm from Tuscany following us at the time just disappeared later on, not for nothing (we laugh) and so we had to do it for ourselves.

The result was pretty cool, a good job that filled us with satisfaction. Too bad that the customer didn’t pay all of the bill (we laugh again). So we had to sue him, unfortunately. Since then our contracts are pretty clear. [laugh]

At the very beginning you and your brother were into the garden field. How did it happen to build pools?

The step was short. The pool is something you put into the garden and we anyway started a development in our field. The pool was, at the time, something I really liked and I was really into this topic. You know, it reminded me of joy, of good times, of family… So I started to being into this more and more.

We started with the above ground pools and so we gained some experience with water issues, maintenance and so on… So we started to attend some fairs, expositions and we finally went for the in-ground pools.

After all the experience and hundreds of pools built, of every shape and dimension, is there a pool you prefer, and if yes, why?

Well, you always start with the small and simple one, the economic one. Later you start to handle the ones more complex and better under the technological aspect as the overflow ones are. During these years the overflow developed even more, reaching higher levels of cleanliness, design and so on… I’d say that to me the overflow is the top notch pool. Especially the zero edge overflow stands out as it has more appeal compared to the other ones.

For sure during these 30 years you’ve seen them all. Is there an anecdote that you kept with yourself and you’d like to share with us?

[smiles] A customer I already knew came to our office to ask for a consulting servis on a “pool” he said he had in his garden. He started talking about overflow, skimmer, filters, pumps… well, let’s say all advanced technical stuff. It looked like he was into a big, complex pool, and he only had to add some final elements. Then at certain point he comes out with some pictures and he’s like “come on I’ll show you” and it was nothing but a hole made by some hay bales kept together by a polyethylene cover. He was so futuristic about these bio-pools! Ahahah!

Your evolution as a firm led you to be today the real leader of this field. Why should a prospect choose Professione Piscina?

There are plenty of reasons: the 400 pools, the 30 years of experience, the artisanal culture we have as a firm and that lets us take care of the customer in a special way. Then we have the assistance service, which is a fundamental aspect you can’t easily find in our competitors. Our expertise is substantiated by all of our testimonials.

And finally our showroom, which allows every prospect to immediately understand the products that will make up his pool and we let him see first-hand those elements in order to avoid unpleasant surprises.
