Renovating a pool doesn’t just mean replacing the liner, installing a new control unit, or upgrading the lighting system.
More and more often, those who contact us are looking for something different: completely transforming their pool, turning a traditional skimmer pool into an overflow pool.
This choice is not only about aesthetics, but also functionality. The advantages are many, and we have already discussed them in previous articles.
In this article, we share a real transformation: the evolution of a pool we converted into a deck-level overflow pool on the short side.
General information
Location: Urbisaglia (MC)
Pool type: skimmer pool, over 20 years old
Technical features: equipped with a monoblock technical unit (now outdated technology)
Initial condition: pool closed and unused for over 7 years
What we did (without full demolition)
To avoid tearing everything apart, a wall was built adjacent to one side of the pool, allowing the new plumbing and lighting system to be installed inside it. This solution reduced the pool size by only about 20 cm, without significantly affecting the usable space.
The old Roman steps were closed off with a small wall, where the pool inlets and the counter-current swimming system were installed.
Structural renovation
We then designed and built a new rectangular staircase in the corner of the pool.
The old liner, worn out and stained, was replaced with a new-generation liner in anthracite grey with a natural stone effect.
From Skimmer to Overflow – Systems and Technology
The skimmers were removed, transforming the pool into a deck-level overflow pool on the short side.
All piping was tested with a pressure test. A heat pump was also added to maintain a consistent water temperature, even during cooler periods or colder hours of the day.
