THE POOL IN THE TIME OF THE CORONAVIRUS: DON'T LET FEAR STOP YOU!
Pool Specialist Consultant
Since the topic is more current than ever, I took up some ideas from my two previous articles to deal with this subject once again, enriching its contents with new arguments.
Enjoy the reading!
At a time when we are in full social, economic and relational crisis due to the coronavirus, we cannot fail to address this topic also from the point of view of our sector.
This is an unprecedented event, which forced us to change our lifestyle and to re-evaluate our lives and our ways of operating, therefore it is more than legitimate to ask questions such as “How do I move? Which expenses or investments should I make in circumstances like these? Better to postpone? ".
Let us try to analyze the question more thoroughly.
How long will this emergency last? Assuming it ends with the hottest period (but we saw that last year it didn't) how likely is it that the scene will continue like this and until when? How will we organize our lives and those of our children or our families?
The only certain thing we know is that at the moment this emergency forces us NOT to be able to attend public places, gyms, crowded places, clubs of various kinds, beaches, restaurants. And since the places that help personal health such as gyms and swimming pools are also closed, physical activity and the care of our well-being have also experienced a setback.
FEAR IS THE REAL ENEMY!
It is natural and obvious that this whole situation is aggravated by a very powerful glue: fear. Fear of getting sick, fear of loved ones, fear of one's job.
And fear is a sensation that blocks, stops, doesn't make us move and makes us postpone.
Certainly, the necessary precautions must be taken, but a totalizing fear cannot be our compass of decision-making orientation. Life, on the other hand, has in itself the challenge to enemies and the consequent danger; in the past it was precisely things such as adverse environmental conditions, social injustices, deadly diseases and the desire for new horizons that stirred souls and pushed Man towards a tangible improvement of what he was facing, even at the cost of his own life.
Fear blocked the West in the face of the threat of war from a madman (Hitler) and by the time they intervened it was too late.
The fear of repercussions blocks hundreds of entrepreneurs suffocated by protection money every year (and fortunately more and more people take courage and denounce these criminals).
The fear of failure mentally blocks many people who could potentially change the world with their ideas, but who then, faced with the fear of failure, end up abandoning their dreams.
The fear of a future crisis means that people do not spend and invest any more, effectively generating a halt to the economy and development that ultimately leads to a collapsing business system and hundreds of sick, depressed, unmotivated entrepreneurs, up to, in some cases, even suicide.
So fear is not a good parameter for deciding what actions to take or not to take in your life, unless you choose to live a sad, withdrawn, fearful life, always attentive to everything.
You can't live life with fear. Of course, you need to be cautious but from here to canceling the freedom to act and reach out towards the future or towards a better life there is a long way to go!
WHAT DO WE DO THEN?
Despite the austere regime of this historical moment (more or less right from a strategic point of view), people still have the desire to be able to savor life, to be able to allow themselves a few moments of lightness and tranquility. Indeed, now more than ever they seek rest and relaxation, the opportunity to shake off the stress of the world and everyday life.
In this sense, I would like to talk about a swimming pool as it, today, represents a real means that allows the whole family to be able to stay at home in perfect safety, without having to go to crowded places or worry about how to manage. children's time.
Furthermore, since at this moment talking about hygiene has become extremely important, we also say that a swimming pool is a very hygienic and safe place, as the presence of chlorine and other sterilization systems eliminate almost all the bacteria, viruses and contaminants. .
If we are forced to stay at home and make the most of our space and our time, having a swimming pool could therefore represent an important advantage, even if this principle is always valid and not only in this particular period.
INVESTING IN YOUR HOME IS MORE AND MORE IMPORTANT!
Never before has the fact of having a house that offers the greatest number of concessions possible is not only important, but even crucial.
30 years ago no one would have hypothesized to work and earn from home, while today with the advent of the Internet it is not only possible but has become a real opportunity. The possibility of making video conferences, meetings, video calls, business negotiations thanks to social networks and apps of various types, saving a lot of precious time and optimizing time, is in fact a real revolution that has changed and is changing everyone's job prospects.
In the same way decades ago it was really a rarity to have a house that offered wellness corners or similar concepts, while today it is possible to add corners dedicated to wellness and relaxation to almost any home, so much so that the trend of these sectors is constantly growing. .
What does this all mean?
It means that the home has become the favorite, most comfortable and safe place for an ever-increasing number of Italians and that more and more people are choosing to invest in their home, enriching it with those elements that allow you to experience it in every sense, in every corner, in total relaxation and in complete privacy.
EVERYONE DOES WHAT THEY WANT WITH THEIR OWN MONEY
Personally, I have always been of the opinion that a person can do what he wants with the money he earns. This is my first assumption. Anyone who allows himself to judge the way in which a person spends the money he has earned through study, work and effort, probably has not worked hard enough to achieve his dreams or has not been equally capable of putting himself out there (it is true that even luck plays a role, but as they say "luck favors the bold"). So I repeat: everyone spends their money as they see fit and on what they prefer (as long as it's legal, of course).
Wanting to deepen this discussion for a moment, I would say that it could be sensible and farsighted to invest your money in things that can increase the value and pleasure of life.
- A healthy and organic diet, as far as possible;
- Personal improvement courses to increase your skills;
- Sports courses and hobbies to improve one's physical condition;
- Feed your dreams, desires and goals to strengthen the spirit.
Always talking about money, we all know very well that we have a very high national debt; perhaps not everyone knows at the same time that the financial wealth of Italian families is among the first in the world. In 2018, this amounted to almost 4,300 billion euros (almost double the public debt) of which almost 1,400 billion are "firm" on current accounts and deposits. Confirming the fact that we are a people of "ants".
So I ask this question: instead of keeping all the money stationary for fear of future consequences, isn't it perhaps better to invest part of that money to increase the quality of one's life and free time?
From a purely economic point of view I wouldn't want to be pessimistic (it's not in my nature) but let's look realistically at these factors:
- The danger of a possible loss in the value of the currency due to the fibrillation of the markets;
- The danger of new taxes that could be put in to meet public spending;
- The situation of the coronavirus that could continue for a long time or recur cyclically with variants and the like.
Beyond that it must be said that life is relatively short. So why not dare with something beautiful and useful for yourself and the family?
THE POOL AS AN INVESTMENT
Among the various ways of investing there is certainly also that of creating a swimming pool, an element that not only complements the home and increases its value from 10% to 20%, but is also a tool for games, sports, fun and relaxation that will allow you to stay at home and enjoy moments of coolness and conviviality.
Furthermore, a swimming pool lasts forever and can be used for many months a year, especially if equipped with a heat pump to heat the water. We are talking about a period ranging from 3 to 5 months a year.
In a surreal situation like the one we are experiencing, wanting to try to do everything possible to feel good or better, during the next lockdown would it be better to stay at home using your own swimming pool or not?
If you are hesitant and have waited until now to move, I suggest you reflect on these points. Why building a swimming pool is worthwhile, now more than ever.
I hope that everything ends as soon as possible and that we can return to normal soon. But in the meantime, let's not forget to live as best we can and, above all, never be stopped by fear.
