Phytodepuration in swimming pools is a natural water treatment method that uses aquatic plants and microorganisms to filter and purify water, an approach that is not only more environmentally sustainable, but can also be more cost-effective in the long run.

Unlike traditional purification systems, which often rely on chemicals and intensive mechanical processes, phytoremediation uses biological processes to remove pollutants and improve water quality. Aquatic plants are in fact part of a complex ecosystem, which can act as a hyperaccumulator of heavy metals and other pollutants.

The efficiency of the phytoremediation process can however be influenced by several factors that include plant species, surrounding climate and environmental conditions (temperature, wind, weather conditions, salinity and pH) as well as nutrient availability. It is therefore a rather delicate and complex system that must be carefully considered and evaluated before being implemented.

WEAK POINTS: climatic conditions such as temperature, weather and water availability can significantly influence the phytoremediation of heavy metals present in water by plants. For this reason, this purification system is particularly effective in colder areas, while it can have problems in more temperate areas (such as central and southern Italy), since they increase the proliferation of algae and other bacteriological presences that become more complicated to manage.

Another type of natural pool is the one made with materials such as resins, pebbles and solidified sand. The construction of this type of pool has been booming in recent years. Customers are attracted by their soft and natural shape and their appearance similar to that of a small lake.

But what are the differences between the various types of natural pool and what is the best construction system?

Many companies have approached this world and, of course, we have tested many brands during our long experience; among these we have also used the system of one of the most popular brands in the sector (probably the best known). Unfortunately, however, we have encountered several difficulties with the construction system in question. For example, we had built a very beautiful pool aesthetically but on which, after a couple of years, we were forced to intervene due to various problems such as the high consumption of chlorine (several kg per year) and the flaking of the material.

To solve the problem, we had to modify the pool (at our expense) and change the old construction system with an alternative one that we found to be much more reliable, effective and functional (the customer is now very satisfied with the results and functionality of the pool).

The new brand we have chosen has a whole series of advantages over other construction systems for natural pools, the most important of which is that the structural layer of the basin is not permeable, a factor that avoids the very annoying problem of having a continuously active bacteriological layer on the bottom of the pool, with a consequent considerable increase in chemical products needed to keep the pool clean.

Another very important advantage is that this type of pool does not require consolidation work that in other natural pools is instead necessary to do every 2/3 years.

As for the coating, these types of natural pools are coated in solidified sand which, compared to resins, is not susceptible to cracks, etc.

The construction method for natural pools that we have chosen among the various options on the market is Neogeo.

As with any natural pool, the shape of the pool is determined solely by the modeled excavation, which in this case is subsequently covered with layers of solidified sand that creates, in just 20 mm, the waterproof structure of the pool, without the need for waterproof sheets in synthetic materials.

The pool can be made in any color, shape, size or inclination, according to the tastes and needs of the customer, which makes it totally customizable and unique. If desired, it is also possible to insert elements such as beaches, seats, chaise longues and artificial rocks.

Neogeo pools are also resistant to external climatic agents and unalterable by UV radiation. The coating is completely mineral and waterproof thanks to the presence of particular mineral additives which, in the presence of water, produce a very dense network of siliceous micro-crystals, which make the product waterproof in a natural way.
