Waterproofing a swimming pool is a delicate subject that requires due attention, especially when it comes to installing porcelain stoneware.
Stoneware is undoubtedly one of the most prestigious solutions for swimming pool linings, but it can become quite tricky especially in delicate areas of the pool such as joints, nozzles, accessories and so on.
So how can we be sure that this does not happen? What methods should we adopt?
There are currently several products on the market that are suitable for the purpose; we have adopted one that is giving us a lot of satisfaction. In reality, it is not just a product but an entire innovative protocol, thanks to which it is possible to create swimming pool linings characterized by high-quality waterproofing, without the risk of water infiltration.
WATERPROOFING A POOL
It is important to understand that waterproofing a swimming pool is not the same as waterproofing a terrace.
In a swimming pool, the constant presence and pressure of water, the use of chemicals, the various atmospheric conditions and the micro stresses of the ground subject the pool to much more significant stimuli than a simple terrace. It is therefore necessary to be absolutely certain of the reliability of the product and the procedures used to waterproof the area.
At Professione Piscina we have adopted a type of superior quality product, which requires meticulous execution by highly specialized labor, but which guarantees high technological performance and excellent results.
THE 7 KEY POINTS OF WATERPROOFING
In our case we are talking about an uncoupling and anti-fracture membrane used to ensure installation in complex situations, for example in the case of climatic stress and various types of stress, where the need for waterproofing must be absolutely guaranteed.
But let's see in detail what its main characteristics and peculiarities are:
- It is not a liquid sheath or a cementitious product but a highly elastic, resistant and high-performance membrane, specifically designed for swimming pools.
- Any movement underneath the tub could create small cracks or fractures. The peculiarity of these fabrics is that they perform better than classic liquid or cement sheaths and above all reduce human error that can usually occur with other types of sheaths, susceptible to installation with thicker and thinner points. On the contrary, thanks to these certified fabrics with continuous thickness, this risk is not run.
- Pool sealing problems can mainly occur in the most critical points, that is, where the accessories are positioned (the so-called "pass-through bodies": nozzles, bottom inlets, spotlights, hydromassage, etc.). Thanks to these membranes and specific protocols, these points are protected effectively and completely.
- The workforce required for this type of work must be highly specialized. It is necessary that the personnel have studied this product, its installation and that they are familiar with the procedures.
- The glue used is of the highest quality and has maximum performance, capable of withstanding the particular conditions of any swimming pool (chlorine, water, atmospheric conditions, etc.).
- Epoxy stucco is used, three times more expensive than cement stucco, with an incomparable performance, totally resistant to chlorine and chemical agents, being a very resistant and long-lasting resin.
- The procedure for applying epoxy stucco is also very long and delicate. Immediately after application, it is necessary to clean immediately and three people are needed to do the work at the same time: one who mixes the product, one who applies it and one who cleans.
WHAT ABOUT THE COSTS?
For such a high performance, costs naturally increase. Both the high quality and performance of the product and the specific expertise required for the labor, contribute to an increase in costs for the entire job.
However, it is money well spent. An excellent waterproofing will prevent any future problems due to leaks, infiltrations and similar troubles. Much better to do a great job at the base and not have to worry about problems that may arise later.
The stoneware coating is certainly one of the most elegant solutions that you can adopt for your pool. Make sure you do the job with all the trimmings by entrusting it to real specialists.
