WHY AN OVERFLOW POOL IS BETTER FOR ACCOMMODATION FACILITIES TOO
The advantages described in previous articles regarding infinity pools are of course equally valid for those who have a B&B, a farmhouse, a hotel or in any case a business open to the public.
From a technical point of view, infinity pools have better water recirculation than skimmer pools. This means that the water remains cleaner and more crystalline since it is purified through a large part of the perimeter of the pool and not only through the small nozzles called, precisely, skimmers.
This is really very important because the pool of a hospitality facility is usually used by many people and therefore gets dirty more easily due to the many sun creams used by customers or children who enter with dirty feet.
Keeping a skimmer pool clean is therefore more tiring and expensive (more chemical products are needed) and maintaining the waterline becomes more difficult (it tends to get ugly and dark more quickly than in a private pool).
Not to mention the aesthetic aspect of infinity pools, which are far more elegant and refined than skimmer pools!
THE MISTAKE OF UNDERESTIMATING THE NEEDS OF TOURISTS
That a swimming pool is becoming a ‘must’ for a hospitality facility has been widely covered by travel agencies, magazines such as ‘Il Sole 24 Ore’ and various types of in-depth programs. It’s not us who say it, it’s the statistics: more and more people are looking for quiet places, immersed in nature or even overlooking the sea, that have a swimming pool available to their guests!
Now, what happens in many cases is that those who decide to build a swimming pool for their business do so by adopting the skimmer solution because it is the most economical. But this is a limited vision.
In fact, many have now understood the trend and therefore the structures that have a swimming pool are increasingly more. But it must also be said that they are almost all very similar to each other!
Yet differentiation is vital when you are 'one among many others', so an overflow pool (especially in the opinions that customers leave on the internet) can make a big difference: because it is more beautiful, because it is cleaner, because it is more prestigious.
Furthermore, if you also add excellent service to the overflow pool, it is possible to increase the prices of your stay, offering a higher aesthetic and quality standard than your competitors, which can therefore meet the needs of a more affluent and more demanding target audience.
The fact of not offering the usual pool will certainly be a strong point in your advantage that can also be advertised on your website, in your brochures, on your Facebook page, on Instagram. It is very likely that you will get very positive feedback from your audience.
REQUIRED OVERFLOW PERCENTAGE FOR FACILITIES
For activities open to the public such as municipal swimming pools or accommodation facilities that allow entry to the public by paying tickets or similar, the required overflow percentage is at least 60% of the perimeter (which means at least the two long sides of the pool).
For general hospitality activities such as B&Bs, farmhouses, gyms, etc., the required overflow percentage is a minimum of 30% (one long side) for pools under 100 m2 and a minimum of 50% (one long and one short side) for pools over 100 m2.
